The Christian "Day of Rest" absolutely hits Paris. However, rest assured knowing that if you search enough you will find several Parisians still believe in stretching their legs. Here are my five favorite day-fillers for Sundays in Paris.
1) The Raspail Organic Market
For: Fabulous vegetables, breads, seafood, meats, chic people watching. Get there early for samples.
Every Sunday from 9:00am - 2:00pm.
Boulevard Raspail, Métro Rennes
2) Vanves Marchés aux Puces (Flea Market)
Great for an early morning stroll, bargaining (almost no prices are fixed), used books, shoes, leather goods, rings, old spoons, or oil paints.
How to Get Here:
14th Arrondissement on Avenue Marc Sangnier and Avenue Georges Lafenestre.
Open: Every weekend of the year from 7:00am - 1:00pm
Métro 13, Porte de Vanves
Tramway T3, Porte de Vanves
3) King Falafel Palace
Eggplant, Fresh falafel, grilled onions, parsley, hummus, fresh pita. Perfect mid-afternoon snack. And they are unaffected by sleepy Sundays. Wonderful.
The Marais: 26 Rue des Rosiers, Métro St. Paul
4) Malongo Café
Grab a cup of coffee, espresso, a latté, capuccino, grounds, a sketch book, and just hang! It's a warm ambiance, right in St. Michel, and there's always activity going on.
50 Rue Saint-André des Arts
Métro St Michel
Open Sundays from 10:00am - 7:00pm
5) Jazzbar! Café Universel
Annd at the end of the day, I like to wind down with a little jazz music. Live concerts every Sunday.
267 rue Saint Jacques, Métro Luxembourg or Port Royal
Open Sunday evenings from 8:00pm - 2:00 am
But it always lives...
